Get Perfect PROM Hair
You found the perfect dress, the perfect jewelry and snagged the hottest date for Prom...just a bit unsure on what hairstyle will make your look complete! Here are a few PRO PROM TIPS for you to follow to turn heads and make it a night to remember.
UP or Down?
As a stylist, I ask everyone to bring in a pic of their dress, to see the detail and the neckline of the gown. Nothing is worse than gettting your hair done and putting on your dress and feeling like it just dosen't go together! When a gown has alot of detail the last thing you want to do is make the whole look complicated with over powering hair. The perfect balance is a MUST! If your gown has bling from top to bottom, try a sleek and sophisticated hair style like a low to mid bun or knot. If your gown is a solid color with less details, you might want to put the focus on your locks with a trendy runway look. If your dress is strapless, you can wear it up or down depending on which way you feel more comfortable. If your dress ties around your neck, your hair will most likely its best up and simple to show off the details of the gown.
TO CURL or NOT TO CURL?
Be honest when it comes to this issue. If your hair has a hard time keeping the curl thru the night, you may want to go with a straighter look. Ask your stylist what you should do at home to prep your mane for the big event. You might be asked to set your hair in hot rollers and arrive to your appointment with the rollers still in your hair. Keep in mind that with all the dancing your curls could droop and fall out if your hair is left down and curly. This look is best for girls with naturally curly hair or hair that stays put.
Just a reminder.....
Ask your stylist....
* if you should wash your hair the night before.
* if you should come in with wet or dry hair.
* if you should use the flat iron before your appointment.
* what products you can use prior to coming to the salon.
* what you should bring as far as hair jewels or if she has
things for you to choose from.
* if you can do any prep work to cut back on time.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE READ THIS....
* Arrive on time for your appointment as EVERYONE is pressed for time.
* Limit the # of people you bring to watch you get ready....it's crazy busy and packed!
* Make an appointment ASAP! We TRY to squeeze others in but sometimes it causes problems.
* If you are unsure of updo styles, you can make a pre-appointment to try different styles. PROM DAY is not the right day to HATE your hair and want to do it over and over.
* DO NOT arrive with wet hair unless you were asked to do so! This makes hair hard to work with.
* Be sure you give yourself and us plenty of time...just in case! If you need to be out by 4pm, then a 3pm appointment is cutting it short!
* WAXING is not a good idea on prom day! If you get really red when waxed, come in the day before!
